GREYFRIARS PRIMARY SCHOOL, ST ANDREWS
MMA provided the engineering input that was concentrated around the refurbishment of the two storey north west wing. This wing was constructed in reinforced concrete including a low pitch concrete roof and concrete floors spanning between a series of masonry shear walls.

The structural works undertaken included a structural inspection of cracking to the building fabric, the formation of new slappings within the shear walls, the formation of a new lift pit and the design of steel framed main entrance porch.

The major constraint with this enclosed site is the very limited access to the central playground.  However, we have made an effort to reduce the resulting difficulties and unnecessary risks at the design stage through careful planning.
